The Sound Source began operation in 1987. And although TSS has gone through some changes over the years, the one thing that has remained consistent is its steadfast enthusiasm for customer service. From fairs and festivals to corporate events, TSS can handle all of your technical needs: sound, lighting, audio-visual, backline, retail, repairs, installations and consultation.
The main driving force behind The Sound Source is Tim Kilbride. He has owned the company since it’s inception. Over the years, Tim has realized some major accomplishments for his age:
Tim was accepted into the Who’s Who for small business owners in 1992. From 1990 through 1993, Tim was the monitor engineer for R&B star, Luther Vandross. He then became the system engineer for the band ‘Little Texas‘ and toured with them throughout the late ’90′s. He then joined the team with Colin Raye as the Monitor Engineer following his departure from Little Texas. He was then inducted into the Louisiana Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 1999 for engineering. In September of 2000, Tim was named to the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Convention Center. It was here that he oversaw the entire Production Team, all the Technology Teams, as well as the technology aspects of the expansions of Phase III and PhaseIV. He produced hundreds of events, as well as spearheaded the technology growth of the Center. He resigned his position as Director of Production Services, as well as Director of Technology Services in August 2009 to devote all of his time and energy to his ever growing company, The Sound Source.
After twenty-five years and having proven that it is not just another fly by night endeavor, The Sound Source continues to strive for excellence. In 2003, TSS moved its warehouse into a new facility in New Orleans, one large enough to house its ever expanding inventory…we thought. As we continued to expand our inventory to meet our clients ever changing needs, a second warehouse facility in Metairie, La. was added to house this new gear. As we approached 2010, with both warehouses full, we were on the hunt for more space. In February of 2010, we found a new home that was large enough for all of our staff and equipment.
With each passing day, TSS searches for new, more efficient and economical ways to accommodate its clients, and toward what has been a common commitment since its inception; to be the most dependable, the most competitive, and the most professional company in its market.
Having provided the Production needs for more than 40 festivals a year, for over 25 years, this has taught us the importance of relationships. We understand, that in the current economy, the importance of trying to produce events with a sharp pencil on the bottom line. It is these relationships that we feel carries us through the difficult economics and makes sure that the end result is a flawless, perfectly executed event that both the entertainers, as well as the attendees will enjoy and most importantly, want to return. We strive to offer our clients ways to cut costs without sacrificing the production value of their event. It is our job to handle the technical aspects of an event in a way that’s economical, but acceptable to all parties involved.
